Senior Accountant - accounts payable (Rochester, NY)

Cedar River Early Learning operates neighbourhood childcare around Rochester. We are hiring a Senior Accountant to take on accounts payable. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people based in Rochester. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to family communication, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around classroom supplies against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with family communication.
