Senior Accountant - accounts payable (Rochester, NY)

Greenridge Insurance Group sells home, auto and small-business insurance in Rochester, and we need a Senior Accountant to lead our accounts payable. We care about how people feel on the worst day of their year. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around underwriting files against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with policy renewals. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Rochester. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
