Senior Accountant - accounts payable (Rochester, NY)

Redstone Keystone Energy is an energy provider in Rochester focused on reliable service and fair billing. We are hiring a Senior Accountant to take on accounts payable. Reliability is the job, and people here take pride in answering the phone at 3 a.m. when needed. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to hardship programmes, and clear open items. • Track costs around usage data against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with hardship programmes. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for four months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Rochester. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
