Senior Accountant - accounts payable (remote)

Summit Loom Construction delivers building projects for owners across the Kansas City region, and we need a Senior Accountant to lead our accounts payable. Good people move up quickly. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to permits, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around subcontractor invoices against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with permits. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for four months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • Fully remote, with quarterly visits in Kansas City. • We reply to every applicant.
