Senior Accountant - accounts payable (remote)

Fernwood Juniper Transit Planning Partners is looking for a Senior Accountant. The job centres on accounts payable for accessibility audits, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 56 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to accessibility audits, and clear open items. • Track costs around fare systems against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting.
