Senior Accountant - accounts payable (remote)

Greenridge Pine Community Partners Group is a Chicago charity working with residents on basic needs and opportunity. We are hiring a Senior Accountant to take on accounts payable. You would join a small organisation of about 85 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to donor records, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around volunteer shifts against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for four months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • Fully remote, with an occasional day on site in Chicago. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
