Senior Accountant - accounts payable (remote)

Summit Fern Freight coordinates shipments and warehousing around Grand Rapids. We are hiring a Senior Accountant to take on accounts payable. On-time is the promise and we work hard to keep it. What you will do • Track costs around customer tracking against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with proof of delivery. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, mornings. • Remote-friendly, with a monthly team day in Grand Rapids. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
