Senior Accountant - accounts payable (remote)

Ironwood Hollow Inspection Services tests and certifies buildings, pipelines and equipment around Chicago. We are hiring a Senior Accountant to take on accounts payable. Independence and accuracy are our product. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to field inspections, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around scheduling against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for eight months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • Remote-friendly, with quarterly visits in Chicago. • We reply to every applicant.
