Senior Accountant - accounts payable (remote)

Silverline Haven Water Authority is looking for a Senior Accountant. The job centres on accounts payable for pipe repairs, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 28 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around billing accounts against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to pipe repairs, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with pipe repairs. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • Remote-friendly, with an occasional day on site in Rochester. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
