Senior Accountant - accounts payable (Philadelphia, PA)

Silverline Thistle Insurance is looking for a Senior Accountant. The job centres on accounts payable for premium billing, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 183 people based in Philadelphia. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to premium billing, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around underwriting files against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with premium billing. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Philadelphia, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
