Senior Accountant - accounts payable (Oakland, CA)

We are growing our team at Lumen Quarry Transit Planning Group and adding a Senior Accountant whose main responsibility will be accounts payable. You would join a small organisation of about 14 people based in Oakland. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around survey data against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with fare systems. • Familiarity with audit requirements.
