Senior Accountant - accounts payable (Memphis, TN)

Cedar Haven Insurance Group sells home, auto and small-business insurance in Memphis, and we need a Senior Accountant to lead our accounts payable. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to catastrophe response, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around premium billing against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with catastrophe response. Working arrangement • Full-time, with a steady weekday schedule. • On site in Memphis, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
