Senior Accountant - accounts payable (Knoxville, TN)

We are growing our team at Bluepeak Sparrow Transit Planning Group and adding a Senior Accountant whose main responsibility will be accounts payable. You would join a large organisation of about 636 people based in Knoxville. What you will do • Track costs around route schedules against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to ridership counts, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with ridership counts. • A degree or certificate in accounting.
