Senior Accountant - accounts payable (Kansas City, MO)

Redstone Amber Insurance is looking for a Senior Accountant. The job centres on accounts payable for catastrophe response, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to catastrophe response, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around customer complaints against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with catastrophe response. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Kansas City. • We reply to every applicant.
