Senior Accountant - accounts payable (Kansas City, MO)

Highbridge Nest Markets is looking for a Senior Accountant. The job centres on accounts payable for shrink and waste, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. We like people who know our customers by name. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to shrink and waste, and clear open items. • Track costs around store inventory against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with shrink and waste. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Kansas City. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
