Senior Accountant - accounts payable (Kansas City, MO)

We are growing our team at Rivermark Sparrow Transit Planning and adding a Senior Accountant whose main responsibility will be accounts payable. You would join a small organisation of about 135 people based in Kansas City. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with fare systems. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • On site in Kansas City, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
