Senior Accountant - accounts payable (Kansas City, MO)

Highbridge Logistics is an agricultural business based around Kansas City. We are hiring a Senior Accountant to take on accounts payable. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around cold storage against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to packing house output, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with packing house output. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Full-time, with a steady weekday schedule. • On site in Kansas City, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
