Senior Accountant - accounts payable (Jackson, MS)

Westbrook Rowan Legal Group is looking for a Senior Accountant. The job centres on accounts payable for client files, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 196 people based in Jackson. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to client files, and clear open items. • Track costs around intake forms against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Jackson. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
