Senior Accountant - accounts payable (Jackson, MS)

We are growing our team at Cedar Quarry Energy Group and adding a Senior Accountant whose main responsibility will be accounts payable. Reliability is the job, and people here take pride in answering the phone at 3 a.m. when needed. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to billing disputes, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with billing disputes. Working arrangement • Full-time, on a regular day shift. • On site in Jackson, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
