Senior Accountant - accounts payable (Grand Rapids, MI)

We are growing our team at Northwind Lantern Construction and adding a Senior Accountant whose main responsibility will be accounts payable. You would join a small organisation of about 194 people based in Grand Rapids. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to change orders, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with change orders. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Grand Rapids. • We reply to every applicant.
