Senior Accountant - accounts payable (Des Moines, IA)

Bluepeak Basin Inspection Services is an inspection company in Des Moines with field technicians and lab staff, and we need a Senior Accountant to lead our accounts payable. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to scheduling, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around certifications against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with scheduling. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for three months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Des Moines, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
