Senior Accountant - accounts payable (Chicago, IL)

We are growing our team at Nova Fern Environmental Services and adding a Senior Accountant whose main responsibility will be accounts payable. Early starts and steady work; we look after our drivers. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around collection routes against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with fleet maintenance. • Familiarity with audit requirements.
