Senior Accountant - accounts payable (Boston, MA)

Fernwood Keystone Farms is an agricultural business based around Boston. We are hiring a Senior Accountant to take on accounts payable. You would join a small organisation of about 29 people based in Boston. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to field records, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around grower contracts against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, with flexible days. • On site in Boston, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
