Senior Accountant - accounts payable (Austin, TX)

Lumen Iron Insurance Partners sells home, auto and small-business insurance in Austin. We are hiring a Senior Accountant to take on accounts payable. We care about how people feel on the worst day of their year. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around premium billing against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with underwriting files. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • On site in Austin, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We reply to every applicant.
