Senior Accountant - accounts payable (Austin, TX)

We are growing our team at Westbrook Cross Environmental Services Group and adding a Senior Accountant whose main responsibility will be accounts payable. Early starts and steady work; we look after our drivers. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around service complaints against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to fleet maintenance, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with fleet maintenance. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for four months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Austin. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
