Senior Accountant - accounts payable (Austin, TX)

Harborlight Clear Energy is looking for a Senior Accountant. The job centres on accounts payable for service connections, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 23 people based in Austin. What you will do • Track costs around billing disputes against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to service connections, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for eight months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Austin. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
