Senior Accountant - accounts payable (Austin, TX)

Summit Ridge Insurance sells home, auto and small-business insurance in Austin, and we need a Senior Accountant to lead our accounts payable. We invest in training for new adjusters. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to premium billing, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around customer complaints against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with premium billing. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Full-time, with a steady weekday schedule. • On site in Austin, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
