Senior Accountant - accounts payable (Austin, TX)

We are growing our team at Northwind Basin Transit Planning and adding a Senior Accountant whose main responsibility will be accounts payable. Work is collaborative and map-heavy. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to accessibility audits, and clear open items. • Track costs around survey data against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with accessibility audits. • A degree or certificate in accounting.
