Senior Accountant - accounts payable (Anchorage, AK)

Fernwood Rook Press prints books, catalogues and packaging from its Anchorage plant, and we need a Senior Accountant to lead our accounts payable. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people based in Anchorage. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with proofing. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for four months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Anchorage, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We reply to every applicant.
