Operations Manager - vendor management (remote)

Northwind Ashton Freight moves freight for manufacturers and retailers out of Hartford, and we need an Operations Manager to lead our vendor management. Dispatch, drivers and warehouse staff talk to each other constantly. What you will do • Manage a team of supervisors and coordinators. • Lead safety and compliance routines and follow up on incidents. • Manage vendors, contracts and budgets. • Track performance measures for dock schedules and act on them. • Find and fix the small process problems that cost hours every week. What we are looking for • Comfort with numbers, schedules and reports. • Four or more years in operations, with some people-management. • Good judgement under pressure. Nice to have • Experience with loads and lanes. • Lean or continuous-improvement training. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, mornings. • Remote-friendly, with a monthly team day in Hartford. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
