Operations Manager - scheduling and capacity (Chicago, IL)

Fernwood Birch Freight coordinates shipments and warehousing around Chicago. We are hiring an Operations Manager to take on scheduling and capacity. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people based in Chicago. What you will do • Find and fix the small process problems that cost hours every week. • Manage vendors, contracts and budgets. • Manage a team of supervisors and coordinators. • Lead safety and compliance routines and follow up on incidents. • Track performance measures for proof of delivery and act on them. What we are looking for • Comfort with numbers, schedules and reports. • Good judgement under pressure. • Four or more years in operations, with some people-management. Nice to have • Experience with loads and lanes. • Lean or continuous-improvement training.
