Operations Manager - scheduling and capacity (Birmingham, AL)

Summit Stone Freight moves freight for manufacturers and retailers out of Birmingham, and we need an Operations Manager to lead our scheduling and capacity. We reward reliability. What you will do • Track performance measures for claims and act on them. • Manage vendors, contracts and budgets. • Find and fix the small process problems that cost hours every week. • Lead safety and compliance routines and follow up on incidents. • Manage a team of supervisors and coordinators. What we are looking for • Good judgement under pressure. • Comfort with numbers, schedules and reports. • Four or more years in operations, with some people-management. Nice to have • Lean or continuous-improvement training. • Experience with proof of delivery. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Birmingham. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
