Operations Manager - safety and compliance (Detroit, MI)

We are growing our team at Fernwood Wren Freight and adding an Operations Manager whose main responsibility will be safety and compliance. On-time is the promise and we work hard to keep it. What you will do • Find and fix the small process problems that cost hours every week. • Manage vendors, contracts and budgets. • Manage a team of supervisors and coordinators. • Plan daily and weekly work and keep it moving when things change. • Track performance measures for dock schedules and act on them. What we are looking for • Four or more years in operations, with some people-management. • Good judgement under pressure. • Comfort with numbers, schedules and reports. Nice to have • Lean or continuous-improvement training. • Experience with claims. Working arrangement • Contract for twelve months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Detroit, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
