Operations Manager - process improvement (Detroit, MI)

Fernwood Wren Freight coordinates shipments and warehousing around Detroit. We are hiring an Operations Manager to take on process improvement. We reward reliability. What you will do • Find and fix the small process problems that cost hours every week. • Plan daily and weekly work and keep it moving when things change. • Manage vendors, contracts and budgets. • Track performance measures for dock schedules and act on them. • Lead safety and compliance routines and follow up on incidents. What we are looking for • Four or more years in operations, with some people-management. • Good judgement under pressure. • Comfort with numbers, schedules and reports. Nice to have • Experience with claims. • Lean or continuous-improvement training. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, mornings. • On site in Detroit, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
