Data Analyst - operations reporting (Des Moines, IA)

We are growing our team at Fernwood Lantern Insurance and adding a Data Analyst whose main responsibility will be operations reporting. We invest in training for new adjusters. What you will do • Document definitions so numbers mean the same thing everywhere. • Answer ad-hoc questions with a short written summary, not a data dump. • Recommend changes and measure whether they worked. • Pull and clean data from several systems into one trustworthy dataset. • Investigate trends in policy renewals and explain what is driving them. What we are looking for • Experience with a BI tool such as Power BI or Tableau. • The habit of checking a surprising number before presenting it. • Strong SQL and spreadsheet skills. • Clear writing. Nice to have • Experience with data on premium billing. • Python or R for analysis. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, mornings. • On site in Des Moines, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
