Data Analyst - forecasting (Richmond, VA)

Nova Beacon Insurance is an insurance company in Richmond with claims and service teams, and we need a Data Analyst to lead our forecasting. We care about how people feel on the worst day of their year. What you will do • Pull and clean data from several systems into one trustworthy dataset. • Recommend changes and measure whether they worked. • Document definitions so numbers mean the same thing everywhere. • Investigate trends in underwriting files and explain what is driving them. • Answer ad-hoc questions with a short written summary, not a data dump. What we are looking for • Clear writing. • The habit of checking a surprising number before presenting it. • Experience with a BI tool such as Power BI or Tableau. • Strong SQL and spreadsheet skills. Nice to have • Experience with data on premium billing. • Python or R for analysis. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, with flexible days. • On site in Richmond. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
