Data Analyst - forecasting (Des Moines, IA)

We are growing our team at Fernwood Ridge Insurance and adding a Data Analyst whose main responsibility will be forecasting. We care about how people feel on the worst day of their year. What you will do • Document definitions so numbers mean the same thing everywhere. • Recommend changes and measure whether they worked. • Answer ad-hoc questions with a short written summary, not a data dump. • Build dashboards that managers actually open every week. • Investigate trends in underwriting files and explain what is driving them. What we are looking for • Clear writing. • The habit of checking a surprising number before presenting it. • Strong SQL and spreadsheet skills. • Experience with a BI tool such as Power BI or Tableau. Nice to have • Python or R for analysis. • Experience with data on claims. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Des Moines. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
