Data Analyst - forecasting (Birmingham, AL)

Northwind Vale Markets is a Birmingham retailer with stores, a distribution centre and online ordering, and we need a Data Analyst to lead our forecasting. We are friendly and busy, especially on weekends. What you will do • Answer ad-hoc questions with a short written summary, not a data dump. • Pull and clean data from several systems into one trustworthy dataset. • Investigate trends in pricing and explain what is driving them. • Build dashboards that managers actually open every week. • Document definitions so numbers mean the same thing everywhere. What we are looking for • The habit of checking a surprising number before presenting it. • Clear writing. • Experience with a BI tool such as Power BI or Tableau. • Strong SQL and spreadsheet skills. Nice to have • Python or R for analysis. • Experience with data on promotions. Working arrangement • Contract for three months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Birmingham. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
