Content Writer - plain-language guides (Birmingham, AL)

Lumen Basin Civic Services Group works with county and city offices around Birmingham, and we need a Content Writer to lead our plain-language guides. We follow procedures carefully and explain them clearly. What you will do • Keep existing content accurate and easy to find. • Interview staff and customers and turn what you learn into clear articles. • Work with subject experts to check facts before publishing. • Write and edit guides, emails and web pages about budget submissions. • Follow a style guide and suggest improvements to it. What we are looking for • Strong editing habits. • A portfolio of clear, practical writing. • Curiosity about how things work. Nice to have • Basic SEO knowledge. • Experience with budget submissions. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Birmingham. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
