Accountant - revenue reconciliation (Richmond, VA)

We are growing our team at Bluepeak Harbor Transit Planning and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be revenue reconciliation. We value plain explanations. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around fare systems against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to ridership counts, and clear open items. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with ridership counts. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Richmond. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
