Accountant - revenue reconciliation (Providence, RI)

Silverline Freight is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on revenue reconciliation for loads and lanes, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 64 people based in Providence. What you will do • Track costs around carrier rates against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to loads and lanes, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Providence, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
