Accountant - revenue reconciliation (Kansas City, MO)

We are growing our team at Harborlight Umber Arts Center and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be revenue reconciliation. We run on creativity, deadlines and a lot of goodwill. What you will do • Track costs around school partnerships against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to exhibitions, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in Kansas City. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
