Accountant - revenue reconciliation (Houston, TX)

Fernwood Mill Arts Center Group is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on revenue reconciliation for exhibitions, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Track costs around volunteer programmes against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Houston. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
