Accountant - revenue reconciliation (Des Moines, IA)

We are growing our team at Westbrook Union Energy and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be revenue reconciliation. You would join a large organisation of about 656 people based in Des Moines. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around hardship programmes against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to billing disputes, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with billing disputes. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Des Moines. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
