Accountant - revenue reconciliation (Columbus, OH)

Nova River Water Authority supplies drinking water and treats wastewater for Columbus and nearby communities. We are hiring an Accountant to take on revenue reconciliation. Our work is invisible when it goes well, and we are proud of that. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to pipe repairs, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for nine months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Columbus. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
