Accountant - revenue reconciliation (Chicago, IL)

Highbridge Orchard Freight coordinates shipments and warehousing around Chicago, and we need an Accountant to lead our revenue reconciliation. You would join a small organisation of about 81 people based in Chicago. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to proof of delivery, and clear open items. • Track costs around claims against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with proof of delivery. Working arrangement • Contract for three months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Chicago. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
