Accountant - revenue reconciliation (Chicago, IL)

Fernwood Loom Early Learning is an early-learning provider in Chicago. We are hiring an Accountant to take on revenue reconciliation. Children come first and so does looking after the teachers. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around meal programmes against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to tuition and subsidies, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with tuition and subsidies. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, with flexible days. • On site in Chicago. • We reply to every applicant.
