Accountant - revenue reconciliation (Chicago, IL)

Westbrook Sparrow Energy supplies electricity and gas to homes and businesses around Chicago. We are hiring an Accountant to take on revenue reconciliation. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people based in Chicago. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around usage data against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with service connections. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Chicago, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
