Accountant - month-end close (Wichita, KS)

We are growing our team at Bright Vista Construction and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be month-end close. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to project schedules, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around materials orders against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with project schedules. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Wichita. • We reply to every applicant.
