Accountant - month-end close (Virginia Beach, VA)

We are growing our team at Clearpath Hollow Freight Group and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be month-end close. Dispatch, drivers and warehouse staff talk to each other constantly. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to customer tracking, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around carrier rates against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with customer tracking. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, mornings. • On site in Virginia Beach. • We reply to every applicant.
